BRANDON – A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries Sunday evening, after he crashed on Franklin Street and landed in a ditch.
Police said they were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash around 6:46 p.m., where Brandon man Burton E. Wedge, 51, who was driving a yellow 2008 Honda motorcycle, was severely injured.
The motorcycle sustained extensive damages and Wedge was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center. Later, officers responded to RRMC to obtain an evidentiary blood alcohol test from Wedge.
The other vehicle, a silver 2007 Dodge Caliber, sustained driver-side damage and an airbag deployed, police said.
The driver, Patti J. Peusak, 69 of Anchorage, Alaska, and her passenger Franca A. Carr, 83 of S. Burlington, were taken to Porter Medical Center and treated for shock and minor injuries.
Both told police they were wearing seat belts.
