A Massachusetts man crashed into a telephone poll and died around 1:55 a.m. Monday while driving on McGoff Hill Road in Lyndon.
State Police said speed appears to be a factor in the crash and the driver, Alex Paduch, 21, of Middleborough, Mass., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Members from Lyndonville Fire Department, Lyndon Rescue and CALEX Ambulance Service responded to the crash.
Police said Paduch, who was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, went off the shoulder of the road and crashed into the poll on the driver side. He was wearing a seat belt, police said.
The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Vermont State Police at (802) 748-3111.
